Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad have lost an Idaho Supreme Court ruling over a tax credit for rolling stock.

The state Tax Commission ruled against the railroads' efforts to use Idaho's 3 percent investment tax credit for rolling stock and movable property.The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Friday against the railroads' claim that the Tax Commission used the wrong section of tax law to decide the case. The Supreme Court issued an earlier ruling in the case in 1991.
