SHARE S.L. CITY SCHOOL BOARD APPOINTS INTERIM CHIEF

The Salt Lake City School Board has appointed J. Dale Manning as the district's interim superintendent while the search goes on for a permanent leader.

Manning will serve in this job until Sept. 1. He is a 25-year veteran of the district and currently works as administrator for personnel services. Previously, he has been a school principal and vocational educational director.Superintendent John Bennion has resigned to become a professor at the University of Utah.

Bennion previously took a six-month leave of absence to teach an ethics class to Salt Lake seniors.

In making this latest appointment, the school board decided not to consider anyone who has applied for the superintendent's job for the interim superintendent's slot.
