Deseret News golf writer Mike Sorensen, taking some time out from covering the University of Utah football team, got the first hole-in-one on the new back nine Thursday at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course.
Sorensen used a pitching wedge on the 120-yard No. 13 hole. The ball hit in front of the cup and rolled in. With Sorensen were his sons Spencer and Scott. The new nine opened in July.Last year Sorensen was one of a few members of the media picked to play a round at Augusta National, site of the Masters. He had one of his best rounds, shooting a 77.
