SHARE SEND IN YOUR NICE RICE RECIPES FOR FOOD EXTRA

Even as we swelter in this summer heat wave, subconsciously, we're thinking, RICE WOULD BE NICE! (Aren't we?) If not, start thinking Septemberishly, when cooler days and nights and schooltime routines mean heartier eating. Rice is the perfect answer for soups, side dishes, desserts and even salads.

That's right, send us your favorite rice recipes for our September Recipe Exchange Food Extra. If your recipe is chosen, we guarantee that you'll:a) enjoy your very own 15 minutes of fame, b) be $10 wealthier, and c) feel like a more well-rounded person for having shared.

Here are the simply simple rules:

1. Submit only one recipe per sheet of paper (however, all can be mailed in the same envelope.) Include name and address on each recipe, and mail to Recipe Exchange, P.O. Box 1257, Salt Lake City, UT 84110.

2. No more than three recipes will be accepted from any one person or household.

3. Recipes must be postmarked no later than August 12, 1994.

4. If identical recipes are received, the one with the earliest postmark will be tested.

5. Recipes will be tested and chosen for publication in the Deseret News Food Extra the first Tuesday in September (September 6.) And remember that big $10 prize if your entry is chosen. Oh what you could do with those bucks!

Thanks ever so much to our faithful exchangers out there who sent us their saucy recipes this month: Sidney N. Wallace, Tiffany Thomson, Allison Liechty, April Booth, James B. Ellis, Stanley Tang, July Jolley, Ellen Koucos, Georgia Dawn Clegg, Kelly Thomson, Marcia Ellis, Elizabeth Wilde.
