Ted Turner confirmed Monday he would like to buy CBS, but the cable television mogul said there is nothing in the works now.

After CBS' merger deal with QVC Inc., a home shopping channel operator, fell through last month, Turner was reported considering a bid. He has long wanted to buy one of the major American commercial television networks - CBS, NBC or ABC - to complement his cable TV empire."There's nothing at the present moment - that's the present moment," the chairman of Turner Broadcasting Systems said in St. Petersburg, where he is attending the Goodwill Games.

"I have nothing specific in the works now," he said. "But I'm just expressing a desire. I mean sooner would be better than later. I've been waiting 10 years now."
