Mildred Foxwell thought she was picking up some spending money by selling one of her husband's books for $3 at a flea market.
No such luck.Unbeknownst to Foxwell, her frugal husband had stuffed hundreds of dollars between the old hardcover's brittle pages.
The cash - from retirement checks, repairing lawn mowers and selling knickknacks at flea markets - totaled more than $600. But 80-year-old Philip Foxwell said it could have been as much as $1,000 - he just can't recall.
He was saving up to pay the bills, feed the family's African finches and buy a new carburetor for the riding mower.
But on Sunday, his wife, 71, took the book from atop his dresser and sold it.
She even recalls what she told the buyer: "You're going to be rich from this book."
Its title? "How to Make Money."
