A Salt Lake man was charged Friday with rape, a first-degree felony, for allegedly abducted two girls, sexually abusing one and raping the other in separate incidents.

The victims and witnesses pointed out Holt's photo to investigating officers.

One victim, a 9-year-old girl, said she was stopped on Aug. 5 by a man resembling Holt while walking to school, court documents show. She said the man asked her to help find his dog. He took her to a park-like area near a building with an "E," spread out a blanket and sexually abused the girl. The girl said the man released her near 1000 East and 500 South.

Another girl, 15, said a man resembling Holt abducted her from her neighborhood near 500 New Star Drive (1785 West) after asking her to help him look for his dog, according to the documents. The man drove to an area near the airport, spread out a blanket and raped the girl.

Police believe Holt also confronted three other children in separate incidents near Rose Park and asked them to help look for his dog, police reports state. After he was spotted at a grocery store, the mother of two of the children ran after the man but lost him.
