Utah's 15th annual Belly Dance Festival will take place in Liberty Park Aug. 26-28. Hours will be Friday 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

Dancers from throughout the United States will offer continuous entertainment on the festival stage and present mini-workshops. There will also be booths selling Middle Eastern food and boutiques offering wares of interest.Noted performers will include the following (the time and subject of their workshops are given, which does not coincide with the time they will perform; call 486-7780 for that information):

- On Saturday, Amaya of Albuquerque, N.M., 10-11 a.m., "Dance, Drama and Dynamics"; Armando Mafufo, Santa Cruz, Calif., 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., drum rhythms; Delilah, Seattle, Wash., 1-2 p.m., "Reptile-Linear Locomotion"; Hassan Yousef Deeb, San Jose, Calif., 2:30-3:30 p.m., spinning with half-circle veils (requires stamina); and Jordan of San Jose, Calif., 4-5 p.m., Arabic dance movement.

- On Sunday, Jawahare, San Francisco, 10-11 a.m., Lebanese style; Dahlal, St. Louis, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., working with drum solos; Judeen, Santa Ynez, Calif., 1-2 p.m., dynamic step combinations; and FatChanceBellyDance of San Francisco, 2:30-3:30 p.m., adapting traditional steps to American tribal style.

Workshops will be in a covered pavilion north of the festival site. Cost is $15 per workshop, payable in advance at the Kismet Boutique, 1307 S. 900 East, or at the festival.

The festival, which is the nation's largest outdoor event of its kind, is sponsored by Kismet Dance Company, with support from the Salt Lake City Arts Council, the Utah Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and radio station KVRI.
