Some $64,000 has been allotted to south-central Utah agencies and programs through grants from the Utah Board of Parks and Recreation for off-highway projects.
Some $20,550 was awarded for the Paiute ATV Trail in Sevier, Millard, Piute and Beaver counties.A grant of $13,385 was awarded for construction of a trail head and $2,750 was earmarked for cattle guards, both projects on the Great Western Trail.
Other awards included $3,000 to improve infrastructure on area snowmobile trails; $3,500 for off-highway trail improvements and maintenance; $2,625 for cattle guards on land administered by the Bureau of Land Management; $5,000 for the Koosharem/Anderson Dairy Trail; and $5,000 to Marysvale to help with a restoration project in Bullion Canyon that is related to mining.
Parks and Recreation officials said 27 projects were awarded grants throughout the state this year, receiving a total of $256,702. Since the program started six years ago, $1.61 million has funded for 141 projects, it was reported.
