An explosion at Trojan Corp., near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, killed one worker and injured two others Tuesday morning.

The three victims were transported to Mountain View Hospital in Payson."We have one confirmed fatality," said a hospital spokeswoman. The victim was identified as Arthur F. Dix, 38, Santaquin.

The 9:35 a.m. blast at the explosives plant also propelled a 57-year-old worker out of a building and jolted a 48-year-old tractor operator outside. Both men apparently suffered minor injuries. The men were reportedly working on demolishing the building where the blast occurred.

Exactly how the explosion occurred was not known. Trojan Corp., was to issue a statement later Tuesday. Corporate officials advised employees not to talk to the media.

People in southern Utah County reported feeling or hearing the blast.
