Ruth Isabel Hansen died on August 21, 1994 in the loving care of her family. She was 93.
Ruth's early life was difficult. She was born January 29, 1901 in New York to Elizabeth and James Crooks. When Ruth was nine both parents had died and their four children were placed in separate homes and orphanages. She married and her firstborn, Shirley, died at three. She and her husband, James L. Harkness, had two more daughters, Hope and Bette. James died at 41, leaving Ruth to raise their daughters. She later married Raymond Hansen who died in 1963.Ruth lived most of her life in Southern California and moved to Salt Lake City in 1979. Her last years were peaceful and she left her family a legacy of unconditional love and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed and long remembered. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Her survivors are daughters, Bette Sim and Hope Warnock, and son-in-law, Harold Warnock; grandchildren, Donnetta and Phil; Dennise and Brent, Dianne and Don; Norman and Paula; Randy and Cathy; Michael, Janet and Jim; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So. Funeral directors: Evans & Early Mortuary.
