John Montgomery Sampson, 86, passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning on August 21, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born January 6, 1908 at Brigham City, Utah to John and Sarah Phena Duke Sampson. Married Leda Atkinson, Jan. 12, 1942.Active member of the LDS Chruch in the Poplar Grove Ward, serving in many positions including a stake mission and as statistical ward clerk for 28 years. Currently a High Priest. Worked at Tooele Army Depot 30 years, during which time he was sent to Korea to teach specialized mechanics. Made many friends and received many commendations. Enjoyed his family, friends, traveling, camping and fishing.

Survived by his wife, Leda and children: Bill and Maryetta Sampson, James and Kay Wixson, John Mark and Dixie Sampson; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Maher; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a son, Stephen; parents; one brother and six sisters.

Special thanks to his care-givers: Rudy and Abbie and everyone for showing so much kindness in his prolonged illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, 1994 at 1 p.m. at the Pioneer Stake Center, 1401 West 700 So., where friends may call from 11:30-12:45 p.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Deseret Memorial Mortuary. His wishes were instead of flowers a donation to Primary Children's Hospital or the place of your choice, to help some ill child receive care.
