As Salt Lake City Council representatives are elected, they are expected to address all areas of responsibility, no matter how difficult or controversial they might be.
Recently, the City Council reviewed the Sugar House Park Authority. After concerns of lack of public accountability for its actions, being nonreceptive to taxpayer needs and suggestions, and the legality of the length of time private citizens can serve an public boards, the City Council recommended a change of membership in the Park Authority. This recommendation was accepted, and with noted thanks for their many years of dedicated service, the members of the park authority were released from their position. There have been many letters written and published for and against this change. Once again, it proves you can't please all the people all of the time.
I appreciate the effort of the City Council, and particularly those of my district representative Keith Christensen. Keith has been willing to address some very difficult issues and ensure government is handling its responsibilities in an appropriate manner.
