An 86-year-old Tooele fisherman who died while on a camping trip at the Lower Bowns Reservoir likely had been struck by lightning, an autopsy concluded.

It was originally thought that William Kroff's death last week was due to natural causes. However, morticians at the Springer-Turner Funeral home in Richfield found burns on Kroff's body and called the state medical examiner's office.

An autopsy concluded Kroff was killed by an electrical charge, probably from lightning.

Wayne County Chief Deputy Douglas Bliss returned to the scene of Friday's accident and discovered a tree also had been struck by lightning.
