Katie Summerhays, Emily Brewer and Rebecca Sonnenberg will sing the national anthem as part of the International Peace Gardens Festival, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the gardens in Jordan Park, 1000 S. 900 West. The festival is sponsored by the Salt Lake Council of Women. Admission is free. There will be traditional music and dance from the two dozen-plus countries represented. Ethnic food and boutique items also will be available. Through the soothing beauty of sculpted shrubs, trees and masses of flowers, the setting extends a wish for peace that speaks many languages. The gardens began in 1939 as a way to include citizens of foreign origin in the beautification of Salt Lake City for the pioneer centennial celebration of 1947.
