Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Jay D Christensen, age 67, passed away August 22, 1994 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Born July 17, 1927 in Garfield, Utah, a son of Edward Marion and Marie Elizabeth Miller Christensen. Married Maxine Fern Jones, October 22, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple; she passed away January 16, 1982. Married Virginia Saxey Larsen, September 12, 1991, in the Provo Temple. He graduated from Granite High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a business owner for many years; working as a glazier was his lifetime vocation.He performed with the Swanee Singers for 20 years. He fulfilled many callings in the LDS Church, including chorister for 18 years, directed many youth and adult choruses; serving in three bishoprics, Elders president, High Priest Quorum leader, Provo Temple worker and served a mission in St. Petersburg, Florida. Jay was driven by his love of the Gospel, always there for the needs of others, unselfishly giving of his talents. His Florida Mission for the LDS Church with Virginia, and their success there, reflected how he cared so much for others. Everyone who met him came away a better person. His enthusiasm for life was a model for us all. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, Orem; children, Ronald J and Carol Christensen, Walter J and Karen Ross, Lynn D Christensen, Terry B and Lauren Christensen, Alan and Shellie Ziska, Kevin D and Amy Christensen, all Salt Lake City; stepsons and daughter, Kae and Gary Rowland, Tim and Diane Larsen, Dave and Annette Larsen, all Orem; Tom Larsen, Salt Lake City; James Larsen and family, Reno, Nev.; 31 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beth Walton, Norma and Ted Anderton, Marie and Warren Spencer; brothers, Dee and Alice Christensen, twin, Ray and Phyllis Christensen; twins, Byron and Zelma Christensen, Myron and Arlene Christensen. Preceded in death by sister, Fay; brothers, Lex Christensen, Douglas Christensen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 11 a.m. in the Sunset Heights 4th Ward, 500 So. 600 West, Orem. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m., Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 So. 900 East and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to services.

Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates.
