Maylin Virgil Bardsley, age 78, of Provo, a devoted husband, father and friend passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in Price, Utah.
He was born on March 14, 1916 in Centerfield, Utah to Roy Slater and Mary Edna Nielsen Bardsley. He married Eunice Elizabeth Deakin on Nov. 21, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 2, 1968.Maylin was patriotic and fought in five major battles during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945; serving in the 204th Field Artillery Battalion. After the Army, he went to work for Geneva Steel until his retirement in 1981.
He had a great sense of humor and zest for life. He was a loving Dad and Grandpa. He had a special love for all little children. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in various callings in the gospel. He will always be in our hearts, and will never be forgotten.
Survivors include one son and two daughters, Charles R. (Christine) Bardsley, Price; Carol Ann (Phillip) Moyes, Springville; Mary Elizabeth (Brent) Pitcher, Riverton; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Berniece Pickett, Murray; Ruby Shand, Manti. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, and one brother, Howard Bardsley.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, at 11 a.m. held at the Grandview 4th Ward Chapel, 1120 North 850 West, Provo. Friends may call Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 85 East 300 South, Provo, and also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place later that day at 3 p.m. in the Centerfield City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Provo.
