BRICK ORDINANCE CREATES HARDSHIP

SHARE BRICK ORDINANCE CREATES HARDSHIP

Riverton's new brick ordinance is just one item on a list of many items making it impossible for young people to buy a home. Over the past few years, Riverton's mayor and City Council have created ordinances making homes more expensive by requiring larger homes and larger lots and numerous other requirements.

These costs have been passed down to the buyers, and new home prices in Riverton have soared. I have also heard that Riverton city fathers are thinking of requiring a landscaping ordinance and making three- or four-car garages mandatory. Come on, Riverton, give us a break. My ancestors came across the Plains in handcarts and settled in the Riverton area. My mother's family came across the Plains and settled in Herriman. I always dreamed that my family would be able to live in this community, but with the stroke of a pen and an insensitive City Council, this might not be possible.

Where will your children and my children live? Who knows, it might be cheaper to send them to the moon.
