Tom Carn, owner of Bonneville Raceway Park, pleaded innocent on Wednesday to misdemeanor charges brought by West Valley City.
Carn has come under fire recently from both city officials and racers for violations of fire and safety codes.Charges filed claim Carn violated fire code requirements that weeds around structures be removed; that he broke noise ordinance laws; and that he failed to provide sufficient parking for a July race. The same three charges were leveled against the track.
He faces a $1,000 fine and six months in jail for each of the individual charges, and a $5,000 fine on each charge against the business.
Carn, who is currently on probation on similar charges, says he has done his best to meet requirements and called the new charge unjustified.
The raceway is the site of drag racing, oval track racing, motorcycle road racing and motocross events.
