Last year's theatrical version of "A Secret Garden" proved to be one of the best adaptations of Frances Hodgson Burnett's children's novel - partly because it held firmly to the book on which it was based.
It's the tale of a 10-year-old orphan girl (Kate Maberly) who's sent to live with her for-bidding uncle and his disabled son on their rather lugubrious estate. There's no joy there for the girl until, one day, she stumbles upon a long-neglected garden. With the help of a local boy, she restores the garden to its former beauty - and has a rather magical effect on the rest of the household.
This is a fine family film - rated G - fit for ther entire family. HBO, Sunday, 10 a.m, 9 p.m.
