Olympus silenced Viewmont 2-0 on Thursday after beating Alta 2-1 on Wednesday in the Alta Girls' Soccer Tournament.

All-State sweeper Tara McNeil scored three of her team's four goals in the tournament. McNeil went on an unassisted drive to score the Titans' first goal against Viewmont. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Cracroft sealed the win with a shot just before the final whistle.Against Alta Wednesday, McNeil punched in two goals in a 2-1 win. The Hawks retaliated in the second half as defender Lindsay Thueson drove coast-to-coast put a shot off the crossbar that was punched in by Tanya Cameron.

Viewmont dominated the Beetdiggers Wednesday, with sweeper Jen Sorenson nailing two shots from 30-plus feet. Becky Ward added two more goals as the Vikings cruised to a 6-2 win to put them in the finals. Striker Tawni Epperson scored both of Jordan's goals.

The top-ranked 4A Beetdiggers continued with tough times against 5A teams as they lost 3-1 to Alta Thursday. Brittany Romano hit first for the Hawks.Two more goals came from Jessica Swilor.


Northridge 3, Clearfield 1

At Clearfield, Northridge forward Cami Hoash assisted Kelli Davis for the Knights' first score. Hoash then punched in her team's second goal just before the half.

Weber 3, Layton 1

At Layton, Forward Stacy Vogt hit two opening goals for the Warriors, which gave her five goals in two games.Vogt added an assist to midfielder Nikki Wilson.

Roy 2, Bonneville 1

At Bonneville, forward Shae Hansen broke a stiff Laker defense to supply both goals for the Royals, one assisted by sister Kori. Carrie Millar shot the lone Laker goal.


Logan 3, Box Elder 1

At Logan, goals by Logan's Valerie Krogh and Box Elder's Brandy Forsgren knotted the game at halftime. Grizzlies Cindy Krogh and Nicole Ashcroft scored in the second half.


Brighton 5, Skyline 0

The Bengals remain undefeated through preseason with another shutout by goalkeeper Tawna Martinau. First-half goals were hit by Reagan Despain and Emily Sutherland. Sydney Stoner and Alaina Loden then added two more goals.

Kearns 1, Highland 0

Kearns improved to 3-1 overall in preseason with Naomi Garcia's game-winning goal against the Rams. Garcia has scored seven goals in three games.
