The Cache School District and the Cache Teacher Association met Friday to discuss a melon-bashing incident that occurred recently during a negotiations-information meet-ing for teachers.
Teachers have said they "bashed melons" only as a form of releasing the tension that has built around negotiations over a 1994-95 school year contract. District officials felt the incident was aimed specifically at them and that the melons represented particular persons. The resulting misunderstanding again delayed a resolution of contract issues. Cache is one of a handful of districts still without agreements for the school year. Classes will begin in the district Sept. 6.
In a tersely worded release Friday, the two groups announced that they had "cleared up misconceptions about the incident and are ready to move on." But a district spokeswoman could not say if additional meetings have been set.
