HOTEL PORTERS GET UNUSUAL REQUESTS

Just what do hotel guests ask of bellmen and bellwomen? Marriott estimates that their porters tote an estimated 21 million pounds of baggage each day. But even these unusual requests were fulfilled: A Middle Eastern prince who was denied use of the hotel's kitchen summoned a bellman to find a luxury home for sale so the prince could buy it to use for cooking privileges; an anxious newlywed who bought her husband a suit on a business trip asked a bellman who looked "just the right size" to model the suit; a guest asked a bellman to charter a private plane to circle the Atlantic Ocean so her sister's ashes could be sprinkled over the sea.
