Douglas James Burton, 81, died August 25, 1994.
Born October 3, 1912, in Nephi, Utah, a son of James A. and Kate Pexton Burton.Worked for Mr. Gibson on the City newspaper while attending Nephi High School. He then moved to Salt Lake City where he worked in advertising. From there he moved to San Francisco where he went to the American Institute of Banking and worked for the Bank of America. He married Etha Quinn on August 14, 1937 in San Francisco; later moving to Los Angeles. Douglas then went into his own business. They bought a large piece of property in Los Angeles where they built a 12-unit shopping center. They were successful and later retired. They spent 5 years in Mission Viego, California. A few months ago, they moved to Lehi, Utah where Mr. Burton passed away.
Survived by two children: Stephen Burton, Alexandria, VA; and Frances Rogers, Thayne, Wyom.; four grandchildren: John Burton, Peter Burton, Eric Rogers and Pamela Rogers; and three great-grandchildren: Katie, Lelsy and Elijah Rogers.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 30th, 11 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 East, in Sandy, where friends may call 1/2 hour prior to the services.
