When identical twins Ed and Frank Demaray got together to celebrate their birthday, relatives decided 180 candles were out of the question.
"We would have burned the place down," said Frank's daughter, Lorraine Clacy. "I don't think we would have met fire code."The Demaray brothers turned 90 on Aug. 22, but not until Saturday could the 41 family members get together for the party.
"They don't look a day over 80," whispered a hotel restaurant hostess.
Both have been married 65 years and both spent 46 years working for the telephone company, beginning with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in 1922 at 28 cents an hour. Both live in Spokane.
Nowadays, Ed and his wife, Lonnie, enjoy taking their boat out on Lake Pend Oreille.
Frank, a master rose gardener, said his long-life secrets are "being honest with yourself, working hard, looking people square in the eye and never telling tales."
