Our lovely mother, wife and friend, "Barbara" peacefully passed through the veil with her husband Chris by her side on the dawn of August 28, 1994 at their home in West Valley City, Utah.

Born November 17, 1933 in Moab, a daughter of Carl Edward and Thelma Irene Wheller Murphy. Married Elden W. Christensen on January 12, 1970 in Elko, Nevada; the marriage was solemnized in the Jordan LDS Temple on November 17, 1992.Active member of the LDS Church, serving in Relief Society as counselor, secretary, teacher and special visiting teaching partner, and as Sunday School teacher. She was an outstanding neighbor and friend to everyone she knew. She was a wonderful wife and mother who raised seven children and always took time for each of them on an individual basis.

Survived by husband, "Chris"; children, Kent Kyle Beach, Park City; Steven (Christine) Cagle, Salt Lake City; Cory Elden (Colbie) Christensen and Leslie Adawn Bedke, both of West Valley City; Kimberly (Andy) Malkogiannis, Copperton; Robin (Marc) Schmidt, Chino Valley, Ariz.; son-in-law, Ray Smock, West Jordan; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; stepmother, Drucilla Murphy, Calif.; father-in-law, Ove L. Christensen; stepmother-in-law, Rhae Christensen; brothers, Gale Murphy and Jim (Mildred) Murphy, all of Ariz.; Tim Murphy, California.

Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Arthur Lindy; daughter, Christy Smock; mother-in-law, Beulah Christensen.

The family expresses their love and thanks to Dr. Patricia Legant and staff and the Cottonwood Oncology Department for the special care they rendered to our wife and mother.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Decker Lake Ward, 2835 South 2855 West. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Herriman City Cemetery.
