Employees in the South Salt Lake Branch of West One Bank, 2700 S. 300 West, held a barbecue in the branch parking lot and raised money to purchase Christmas presents for 72 underprivileged children in the Head Start program at Copper View Elementary School, 8449 S. 150 West, Midvale.

Gerald Powers, branch manager, said the business community helped the event by giving discounts on the food that was sold, and Dean and Co. donated 192 hot dogs. He said branch employees will spend about 200 hours preparing for the barbecue and shopping for the Christmas presents. He said the event is held in August so the funds raised can be used when toy sales occur in the coming months. Anyone wishing to donate money to the program can contact any branch employee by calling 537-6960.
