The city of Logan would like to publicly thank the youth and leaders of the Willow Creek 1st Ward from Sandy for the service project along Canyon Road last Friday. The Logan City Fire Department recently declared the west side of Canyon Road a potential fire hazard because of the dry weather Logan is experiencing and the amount of weeds and trees in the area.

More than 80 individuals came from Sandy with weed eaters, rakes and clippers to help clean up the hillside. Not only did they reduce the fire danger, but they also enhanced the aesthetics of the area.Thank you to other individuals and organizations who also made this service project possible:

The Logan City Fire Department for helping to coordinate the project, McDonald's Restaurant for donating ice water and cups for the workers, the Logan City Street Department for picking up the debris that was taken off the hillside, the Logan City Parks and Recreation Department for supervising the project, and the citizens along Canyon Road for allowing the workers to cool off in the shade and use their hoses for water.

The city of Logan is seeking other groups or organizations to continue this project further along Canyon Road.

Mayor Darla D. Clark
