A unidentified man was killed late Saturday after apparently being kidnapped, taken to a Salt Lake home, beaten and finally shot.

Police found the man, believed to be in his 30s, about 11:30 p.m. in a front yard near 300 S. Emery St.(1170 West) with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.A man, 25, and a boy, 16, were later arrested in connection with the slaying. Detectives are also searching for a third suspect, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Judy Dencker.

Carlos Martinez Sanchez, a transient, was booked Sunday into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of murder and aggravated kidnapping. Juan Garcia, 16, of Tiajuana, Mexico, was also booked into juvenile detention for investigation of aggravated kidnapping.

Investigators believe the victim was abducted somewhere downtown Saturday and taken to a house at 322 S. Emery. After being beaten and shot, the man ran from the home and ended up on a neighbor's front lawn.

Details are still sketchy - but the shooting is possibly drug-related, said Dencker.

Neighbors called the slaying "scary, but no big surprise."

"I was just sitting inside my home when I heard a lot of hollering and screaming," said Mary Pollard. "I went out and saw a girl running like the devil up the street and someone yelled that somebody had been shot."

Pollard added she didn't know who actually lived at the residence because different people were always going in and out of the home.

"There is always so much traffic at the house. Lots of times cars come by and pick up a few girls and drop them back off an hour later. I used to wave whenever I'd go by and sometimes they'd wave back. But I usually just tried to stay away from the area," she said.
