Clearfield
In its Aug. 23 meeting, the City Council:
- Approved a Class A beer license for Petro Mart, 641 N. Main.
- Set a public hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 13, 7:10 p.m. to consider rezoning selected properties along 350 S. Street from commercial to residential.
- Set a public hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 13, 7:15 p.m. to amend zoning regulations for kennels.
- Awarded a $26,705 contract to L.N. Curtis and Sons for a breathing air compressor for the fire department.
- Awarded a $20,833 contract to L.N. Curtis and Sons for a new fire truck.
Clinton
In its Aug. 23 meeting, the City Council:
- Held a public hearing and approved a request from North Davis Cabinet to rezone two pieces of property totaling 39 acres at 3400 West and 130 North and also at 3400 West and 1800 North from residential to agricultural-equestrian.
- Held a public hearing on Community Block Grant Development projects.
- Approved a request for a four-lot subdivision by North Davis Cabinet at 3400 West and 1300 North.
Syracuse
In its Aug. 23 meeting, the City Council:
- Honored Ron Holt for his 20 years as service on the board of adjustments.
- Set two public hearings for Sept. 27, 7:30 p.m. to rezone land on 1700 South near Allison acres. Most of the land would go from agricultural to residential, but a small portion would be rezoned commercial.
- Authorized Mayor Michael Garrett to cast all the city's votes at the annual convention of the Utah League of Cities and Towns.
- Referred all sidewalk safety concerns related to a reduction in school busing to the city's public safety committee.
- Agreed to give the owner of trees, whose roots have been plugging a storm drain at 1100 West on 1700 South, a choice of three options: Remove the trees, replace the storm drain or pay to have Roto Rooter clean the pipes several times a year. The city recently had to have the clogged pipes cleaned again.
- Approved an ordinance to rezone eight acres on the south side of 2700 South and east of 1000 West from agricultural to residential.
- Tabled an ordinance that would have rezoned land north of the Sunset View subdivision.
- Approved an ordinance making changes in the city zoning ordinances relating to home occupations and preschools.
- Voted against holding a special fall city cleanup.
- Approved an ordinance creating a new 15,000-square-foot lot zone.
- Tabled an ordinance that would have eliminated the city's 8,000-square-foot lot zone.
