Russell Collins from Richmond, Va., cleans out walnut shell fragments from a statue at the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. Collins works for the U.S. Veterans Administration and travels around the country cleaning war monuments. Collins used crushed walnut shells in a sand blaster-like device to clean the bronze statue because sand would damage the metal.
