The Ogden Raptors celebrated the end of a tough road trip by breaking a four-game losing streak Tuesday night at Butte, pounding out 15 hits and getting fine pitching from starter Shane Farnsworth in their 10-0 Pioneer League victory.
The Raptors now return to Ogden, where they start a brief three-game homestand against the division-leading Helena Brewers tonight at 7 at Serge B. Simmons Field.Ogden fell on hard times during its last homestand against league-leading Billings and has dropped to 41/2 games behind Helena in the Pioneer South even with the Brewers losing Tuesday.
But Ogden pitching and hitting got re-acquainted Tuesday in Butte.
Raptor hurlers Farnsworth and Doug Smyly held the Copper Kings to eight harmless singles, and Edson Hoffman threw the last two innings without giving up a hit.
Meanwhile, Raptor batters rapped six doubles; Brad Dandridge and Josh Kirtlan had three hits and two RBIs each. Dandridge, who walked in the first, scored in the third, fifth and sixth and had two of the doubles.
