SHARE U.N. STAMPS SPOTLIGHT DEVELOPMENT, GROWTH

The United Nations Postal Administration will issue a set of six commemorative stamps and a souvenir card on the theme "Population and Development." The stamps honor the International Conference on Population and Development (CPD) to be held in Cairo, Egypt, Sept. 5-13.

The designs of the new U.N. stamps depict the fields of family planning programs, health and family well-being. Also shown are scenes based on population growth, aging of population and economic development.The designer of the stamps is Jerry Smath, who is famous for illustrating and writing children's books. He is a regular contributor to TV's "Sesame Street."
