A brief but vigorous storm dumped marble-size hailstones on north Utah County about 3:30 p.m. Monday, breaking windshields and flooding storm drains.

In the end, the storm delighted children all over who played in the high water the rest of the afternoon. In Pleasant Grove, power went out for a short period, leaving motorists dependent on the four-way stop system instead of signal lights.

In Lehi, several accidents on I-15 were blamed on the storm, which spent itself in about 20 minutes but left piles of hailstones and leaves in the streets and dings on automobiles.

In American Fork, fruit was damaged and a squad car lost a back window when hail broke through the glass.

Most motorists simply stopped during the onslaught, trying to wait out the storm's fury and then negotiating wet and snowlike streets under sunny skies.
