Louis Lynn Allen, 87, died August 29, 1994 of complications due to a stroke.

He was born in Salt Lake City on January 25, 1907, to Louis William and Maude May Jenkins Allen. He married Jayne C. Nicholson, August 28, 1929, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away April 30, 1975. He is survived by Myrle Wright Barker whom he married on November 12, 1975.He was a successful brick mason contractor for many years. A past member of the Salt Lake Country Club and the Salt Lake Kiwanis Club. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and was formerly a member of the Tabernacle Choir for 34 years.

Surviving, beside his wife, are five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth D. Lund (Nancy), Mrs. John Preston Creer (Jennie), Mrs. John H. (Jack) Barnard (Lanny), Mrs. Craig B. Brown (Lesley), all from Salt Lake City; and Mrs. James Gregg Hawthorne (Kerri) of San Francisco, Calif. He has 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard Dorius (Shauna); three stepsons, K. Jeff Barker (Charlene), Randy W. Barker (Linda) and David T. Barker (Debbie); also 14 step-grandchildren, all from Salt Lake City. Additionally, he is survived by a sister, Arvella Farnsworth of Glendale, Ariz.; and two brothers, John P. Allen (Fay) of Farmington, and Bruce E. Allen (Pat) of Bountiful.

He was an avid Golfer until the time of his death. He loved to entertain others with his harmonica, piano, and wonderful voice. One of his many gifts was his sense of humor, which brought love and laughter to many. His family loved him dearly and he loved them.

He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 1, 1994, 12 noon, at the Olympus First Ward, 4100 South Camille (2480 East). Friends may call Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Lawn.
