Marla Joy Anderson Cummings, 35, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 1994 after prolonged suffering from chronic cluster headaches. Marla Joy was a lovely, vivacious, talented person and a kind, caring protective mother of Tyler.

She had many friends. Her courageous spirit and positive attitude were an example to us all. At last she has found relief from pain. We love you, Marla, and we will see you in heaven.Marla was born October 19, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Max W. and Maurine Miles Anderson. She graduated from Bingham High School where she was active in Madrigals, Student Government, High School Rodeo and went to State in debate. Marla was a member of the LDS Church and had great faith and a strong testimony. Attended BYU, BYU, Hawaii, and graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University. She graduated from BYU Law School and practiced law in Provo for five years. She married John E. Cummings October 30, 1981. Later divorced.

She is survived by the light of her life, son, Tyler; her parents, Max and Maurine Anderson; a brother, Gary Max and wife Sandra; a sister, Sherral, and husband Jamie Oliver; five nieces, Angela, Loralee, Kristie, and Tami Anderson; Katie Ann Oliver; and two nephews, Stuart and Jesie Oliver, all of South Jordan; and her grandmother, Anona Miles, Mountain Home, Utah. She was preceded in death by three grandparents, John and Agnes Anderson and Rue Miles.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Shawn McQuilkin, Dr. William Preston, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Jordan Valley Holy Cross Hospital Emergency Room.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan River 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 1229 West 10775 South, South Jordan. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Thursday 6-8 p.m. and at the ward on Friday 10-10:45 a.m.

Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
