A West Valley woman who told police she burned her infant daughter with a cigarette was charged Tuesday with child abuse, a second-degree felony.

The woman, 19, burned her 9-month-old daughter with a cigarette on two separate occasions during July and August, court records show. Doctors who examined the baby Aug. 19 found a burn on the back of her leg and another on her thumb.The woman was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
