The Ryland Group Inc., Columbia, Md., the nation's No. 3 builder according to Builder Magazine 100, has agreed to purchase 200 lots at South Mountain, a $600 million development in the Draper foothills.
Ryland will build several model homes, ranging from modest single-family styles to large golf and equestrian estates. "South Mountain has spectacular views with remarkable amenities built into the master plan," said John Aldous, division president for Ryland."This project is compatible with our intentions to exceed the expectations of our customers. It's going to be a great place to call home," he said.
South Mountain contains 1,500 acres on which 1,700 homes eventually will be built. It will feature tree-lined streets, wide sidewalks, homes with front porches and a town center. Also scheduled are an equestrian center, outdoor amphitheater, public golf course, recreation center and a transportation depot.
In announcing the agreement with Ryland, Terry C. Diehl, chief executive officer of South Mountain, said, "We re pleased that Ryland Homes has joined South Mountain. I believe homebuyers will be particularly pleased with the quality and design of their homes."
