Common Cause of Utah is mailing out detailed questionnaires to all legislative candidates asking their stands on various government reform issues.

Betsy Wolf, Utah Common Cause director, said candidates' responses will be made available to the media and public "well before the November elections."Common Cause neither opposes nor endorses candidates, but seeks to educate citizens and candidates about various issues.

Candidates will be asked their stands on campaign finance reform, lobbyist disclosure of gifts to lawmakers, legislators' conflicts of interest and codes of ethics, an independent commission to oversee elections and enforce campaign laws and open meetings of the Legislature's now-secret Rules Committees and sometimes-secret party caucuses.
