A judge has refused to allow a former member of an Ogden religious sect to change her 1992 guilty pleas to child sexual abuse.

At a hearing Wednesday, 2nd District Judge Michael Glasmann said Sharon Kapp was two years too late in making her request to plead not guilty to the charges.Kapp pleaded guilty to child sodomy and aggravated sexual abuse of a child and dealing in materials harmful to a minor.

Kapp was a member of the Zion Society, a small sect that prosecutors alleged advocated sexual activity in children in accordance with the religious beliefs of the society's founder, Arvin Shreeve.

Shreeve, 64 is serving up to life in prison on sex abuse charges.
