A 32-year-old former psychiatric patient was booked into Weber County Jail Wednesday for investigation of the kidnapping of a psychologist.
Clinical psychologist Kimberly Walsh, 35, was abducted at gunpoint from the McKay-Dee Institute for Behavioral Medicine at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and ordered to get into a car, said police detective Shane Minor.A female suspect was quickly apprehended by a Morgan County deputy sheriff who spotted the vehicle after hearing a bulletin on the police radio.
"She wouldn't even acknowledge me at first. She didn't have any weapons in hand, but then she lunged forward and picked a weapon up. That's when I wrestled it away from her," said officer Jarvis Whitaker.
Police later discovered the weapon was a pellet gun.
McDay-Dee spokesman John Grima said an institute staffer witnessed the suspect allegedly forcing Walsh into the suspect's car in the parking lot and called police.
