After a lifetime working with the real thing, Jane Goodall is selling a line of toy animals.

Goodall, renowned for more than 30 years of research with chimpanzees in Africa, was in the Laguna Hills (Calif.) Mall on Wednesday to launch her line of toy chimps, rhinos, lions, cheetahs and elephants, priced from $39.99 to $1,500.The toys are being sold at Animal Kingdom stores, a chain in Southern California.

Profits will go toward her research.

"I'm doing this to try to conserve habitat and make people understand that circus chimps aren't funny," said Goodall, now a research professor at the University of Southern California.

"I have learned something from the chimps: We are not as different from the rest of the animal kingdom as we used to think. It helps us to realize that we're all in this together."
