SHARE SUMMERHAYS LEADS UTAH TO JUNIOR WIN

Utah's Junior Americas Cup team won first place in the team competition in Mexico City with a three-day total of 649.

The Utah four-man team was led by 15-year-old Boyd Summerhays of Farmington, who shot rounds of 69-68-68 for a 205 total. Others on the team were Bountiful's Scott Hailes with a 218 total, Kaysville's Marty Jacks at 230 and Brigham City's Kyle Wight at 236. Three of the four players scores counted each day.Mexico City was second at 658, followed by Nevada at 681 and Southern California at 683 in the competition, which features 17 teams from the western United States, Canada and Mexico.

In the Girls Junior Americas Cup at Waikola Hawaii, the Utah team finished 10th with a three-round 721 total. Mayfield's Jamie Stevenson was 16th at 235 after being 5th after two rounds. South Jordan's Kami Whitehead and Salt Lake's Sara Hale both shot 244 and Ogden's Summer Fenstermaker finished at 259.
