Following falling auto sales, the frisky foals found freedom to frequent the fore. Bonds bucked up and stock steeds stepped lively, certain that slow-sales indicators squelched interest-rate scares. Thirty-year T-bond, stung by slumping sales, kicked his hooves into high gear, gaining $250 and ninth place. The stock stallions stabilized their standings. OTC gained $148, but slipped to 10th, while Old Blue advanced $188, secure in fifth. The saver steeds savored their lead. Savings Bond, $8 up this week, remained in first. Money Market and 90-Day CD in second and third, gained $8 and $6, respectively. The Lippers lent levity to the race as they frolicked forward. Lipper Mutual, still in eighth, gained $182. Lipper International, now in fourth, gained $229. The cash-price colts lagged. Silver slipped to sixth, plummeting $297. Gold, losing $250, was seventh.
