LaVerda Okerlund Lloyd, 85, devoted wife, mother, teacher of the gospel, missionary and leader, died Friday, August 5, 1994, of causes incident to age.

Born September 30, 1908, in Lyman, Wayne County, Utah, to Ole Albert and Katherine Ann Oldroyd Okerlund. Attended Wayne High School. Served as an LDS missionary in the Central States Mission, 1927 to 29. Married Delbert John Lloyd in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 11, 1933.In addition to her mission, she served in many ward and stake capacities in the LDS Church, including Mt. Jordan Stake Relief Society President for 12 years; Mt. Jordan Stake Primary President and ward Relief Society President; teacher of gospel doctrine and other classes, and stake missionary. She preached sermons at scores of funerals. She will be remembered for numerous acts of compassionate service as a friend, neighbor and Relief Society leader, and for her fervent testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and the mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

In addition to her husband and posterity, she is survived by a sister, Welthy Lyman and husband Homer, of Sacramento, California. Also survived by: two daughters and three sons: Dorothy Ann Steadman and husband, Max, Thayne, Wyoming; Carmen Lucille Houmand and husband, Jay, Sandy, Utah; Delbert Preston and wife Sheryl, South Jordan, Utah; Clair Okerlund and wife, Joan, Sandy, Utah; Ruel Scott, Sandy, Utah; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four sisters and a brother, Delta Okerlund Maxfield, Mary Okerlund White, Ardeen Okerlund Chappell, Rulon Ole Okerlund and Lydia Okerlund Chappell.

Funeral services Tuesday, August 9, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Jordan 2nd Ward Meetinghouse, 9331 South 300 East. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Crescent Cemetery. The family expresses thanks to the staff at Doxey-Hatch Medical Center.
