An aggravated kidnapping trial for a Weber State University administrator will proceed as scheduled despite the likely absence of the alleged victim.

Prosecutors told 2nd District Judge Stanton Taylor during a hearing Monday that Colby Clifford is involved in Navy training and probably won't return by the trial date. But Taylor refused to change the Aug. 30 trial for WSU's director of academic advisement, Phillip Austin, who is accused of holding Clifford at gunpoint.

Roy police were led to Austin, 42, by Clifford a month after he reported the March 12 incident. Clifford recognized Austin on April 14 when he went to WSU with a transcript question.
