Quenton T. Bowler has been approved by the Southern Utah University Board of Trustees to serve as acting dean of the College of Education effective Aug. 1 through at least September 1995.

Bowler replaces James M. Miller, who had served as acting dean and then dean since 1974. Miller retired from SUU this year after 20 years on the faculty. Prior to joining the faculty, he had a long teaching and administrative career in the Iron County School District, including serving as principal at Cedar City High School from 1972-74.The search for a new dean has been temporarily suspended until a national readvertisement for the position can be completed. The process will be reactivated during the 1994-95 school year.

Bowler, who was serving as head of the department of teacher education, joined the faculty in 1981 and became department head in 1985. He has taught in elementary, middle and secondary schools. He served as principal of Cedar City North Elementary, the Escalante Valley School and Parowan High School.
