The return of the BYU Women's Golf Classic following a four-year break highlights the 1994 fall season for the Cougar squad.
Fourteen teams from nine states, including last year's sixth-ranked UCLA and 12th-ranked Oklahoma, will tee up Monday at 8 a.m. on the par 72, 6,000-yard Hobble Creek course.Thirty-six holes will be played Monday and 18 holes Tuesday in the collegiate 54-hole format, which allows five players to a team. The best four scores from each 18-hole round will be used in team scoring.
Players will come from the University of Colorado, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Oklahoma, San Diego State, San Francisco, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Weber State, Wyoming and host BYU.
In assessing the strength of the field, BYU coach Gary Howard said that UCLA has all of its players returning to a consistent, balanced squad and should top the field.
Challenging UCLA will be Oklahoma, Washington and BYU.
The public is invited without charge.
