Juab County Sheriff Dave Carter said he's thinking of closing North Beach at Yuba Lake during the Memorial Day holiday next year.
"I have been meeting with BLM and State Parks people," said Carter. "I am not willing to send my people into such a dangerous situation year after year."He said Memorial weekend had become such a problem, with the beaches overcrowded and the rowdy element out of control, that he is not willing to take his officer's lives in his hands when he sends them into the area. "Every year I take the chance of one of my officers getting hurt."
He said the situation cannot be tolerated any longer. "If we have to shut down North Beach, then that is what we will do," he said.
