DEATH: DEAN HADFIELD

Dean Hadfield, 86, loved and respected husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away September 10, 1994 at home in Murray, Utah.

Dean was born July 7, 1908 in Taylorsville, Alberta, Canada, to John Gardner and Alice Nelson Hadfield. Married Mary Latimer, April 12, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 16, 1954.Dean's outstanding 40 year career with Continental Oil Co. began in Salt Lake City as a service station salesman advancing to division manager. He was transferred to Fort Worth, Texas, as division manager, then became regional manager. From there he was transferred to Houston, Texas as general manager of all domestic marketing for Conoco. He returned to Salt Lake City in 1968 and took early retirement in 1971.

After Dean's retirement from Conoco, he accepted a vice-presidency with the Lewer Insurance Co. of Kansas City, Missouri. He maintained this position for three years.

Dean was an active member of the LDS Church. During his years of service to the church he was a counselor in the bishopric, stake purchasing rep, secretary of the High Priests, stake auditor, stake physical facilities rep, temple worker, tour guide on Temple Square for 10 years and ward mission leader.

He is survived by his wife; children, Marilyn Dee (Richard) Gunderson, Robert Dean (Judith) Hadfield, Marsha Lee (Rick) Schafer; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Venice Benson and Thelma Fonnesbeck. We all love you, Dean, and you will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 1994 at 2 p.m. at the Cottonwood 14th Ward, 2080 East 5165 South, Holladay, Utah. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Friday, September 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service Saturday at the ward. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr.
